Using IT to Connect Students and Scientists
COSEE CA is investigating the efficacy of using IT to engage middle and high school students in earth and ocean science through direct connection to the Scripps research community. Activities include interactive video conferences between classrooms and labs at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, online interaction and networking between teachers, students and researchers using tools such as Skype, blogs and the district-adopted online collaborative environment, Moodle.

Students and the lab were able to see and interact with each other in a multi-point video conference as well as view slides as needed. Almost 300 students participated over the course of 3 video conferences.
